Window Tint Aftercare
Last Updated: September 9, 2026
New window film needs time to cure. The general guidance below helps protect your installation. Always follow any specific instructions your installer gives you at pickup — they take priority over this page.
Rolling Windows Down
Keep tinted windows rolled up for the waiting period your installer recommends at pickup (commonly a few days, longer in cooler or humid weather). Rolling windows down too early can lift or peel the film edges.
Cleaning Newly Tinted Windows
- Wait until the film has cured before cleaning the inside of the glass.
- Use a soft, clean microfiber cloth.
- Use an ammonia-free glass cleaner or mild soapy water.
- Avoid abrasive pads, razor blades, or sharp tools on the film.
- Avoid stickers, suction cups, or tape on tinted surfaces.
What's Normal During Curing
Freshly installed film may temporarily show:
- Light haze or cloudiness
- Small water pockets or moisture bubbles
- Slight streaking or visual distortion
These usually disappear on their own as the remaining moisture evaporates. Curing time varies with the film, weather, and sun exposure. Do not press or push bubbles out.
